Im becoming increasily obssesed with Alex and his nephew (good job btw). And considering you're allowing people to do fan fictions about your story, i decided to make a story about two of my new found favorite characters. But the problem is that you haven't developed much lore about them yet (and one of those guys doesn't even have a design yet LOL). So i don't have much to go around and my fanfic will definetly seem like theres nothing to do with your story. So i need a bit of a basis before i start writing. Do you mind answering some questions so i can make this more accurate to your cannon?

Most yandere characters in mass media are female. I have this theory that (mostly) men like yandere women in fiction because it's a reversal of the socially accepted gender dynamics where women are seen as weak, fragile or submissive. We need to take in account that the trope started in Japan where those gender roles are still very prevalent to this day, and to a male Japanese audience seeing a dangerous, powerful, dominant woman is a power fantasy. It's unusual, you know? For the "prey" to be the predator. In retro horror movies the victims are usually women while the killers are men. So it's absolutely shocking (revolutionary even) to see the roles reversed. Female stalkers, villains, obsessive women, in a way they're all reclaiming themselves in cinema and media, and allowing themselves to be possessive and jealous the way men have been for centuries IN REAL LIFE. I have nothing but respect for media that chooses to engage with that, be it horror or even romance. I think it's easier to have a nuanced discussion on female yanderes than on male because of the physical difference and the way society views criminals based on gender and appearance.

Society keeps telling us that women are to be desired, they're always the center of the desire (and objectification/sexualisation). With female yanderes this is reversed too - men get to be desired (obsessively so), they become the center of someone's sexuality, which is rarely the case in real life where male sexuality revolves about being the dominant figure in the relationship. It's a way for men to be submissive without having to face a society that emasculates and mocks them for this submissiveness. Or at least that's the way I see it. It's a very interesting topic.

With male yanderes, the conversation is entirely different. It's hard to write about them without engaging in some way with misogyny. You can't write possessive men without thinking about the very real life implications of those behaviors. 200 years ago women were still considered property, they belonged to the highest bidder. Even today hundreds of women are murdered because they reject men who can't handle rejection, or who view them as property. Of course there are cases where women kill their male partners out of jealousy or paranoia, but the reverse are much, much more common. It's very important in those topics to be able to distinguish between fiction an reality.

There is the other side of it all. Fiction is fiction. It can be anything. Fiction of course doesn't exist in a bubble, but it doesn't need to be realistic or even engage with the real world. You can have possessive men who aren't misogynistic or rapey. But I choose to look at all perspectives. I enjoy working with some realistic traits from time to time, and that often means dealing with unpleasant, sensitive real world topics like misogyny, rape, inceldom, assault, rape culture etc. I look at the yandere genre as a horror trope first, and as erotica second. I don't consider it romance - although some slight yandere traits can be used to create perfectly healthy male yandere characters, my writing isn't an example of that at all.

Those are my two cents, sorry for the rambling, but as a writer (and a feminist) I really find this topic intriguing. There are so, so many aspects to it, social, cultural, etc

I know that it’s something that a lot of fanfic readers are sick of it, but I want to point it out. Yesterday, a streamer (I’m not going to said their name bc I love them) said that wattpad is just make straight people gay and I don’t know as what offend me more as a reader or as a queer person.

It’s true in wattpad sometimes there’s a fic where someone which in real life said that they’re straight fall in love with someone of their same sex and most of the time they both are famous. But what make wattpad famous was Justin Beiber x Yn or Harry Styles x Yn (by the way, if you read this I support you, there’s nothing bad with that). So, are you telling me that the problem it’s not our fantasy with a famous person, it’s our gay fantasy of two famous people together? A lot of people start to read about two characters or famous just because the fanfics are stremely good (including myself), and even if they aren’t, we are just having fun without hurt someone and they all make look like we kill someone. I understan if someone feel disgusting when they write about them, but what if it’s about a fictional charather? what if the ones you write about read it because ‘curisity’ and don’t said you to stop to?

We get a lot of critizian for what we read/write no matter if you read straight or queer; straight: insain obssesion, queer: crazy fetishist. And to be honest, I’m very tired not matter how you explain them that we know how separate fiction and reality, they don’t believe you. When it come to a person that you can defend your self, as a famous, and all the people stand on their side hurt more. If you are a famous people, please, be more careful when you are going to attack a group of people.

This may come out as bashing towards Rebekah and Caroline, that isn't my intention at all because I honestly love Rebekah and I don't hate Caroline, as many people seem to think, I just don't like her. I don't care enough for any fictional character to hate them, I assure you that.

I feel Caroline just had development in season two, where her character got more popular, but after that it feels the writers went back to make her the same girl from season one but less mean and more confident.

Don't get me wrong, her personality did have a change but I don't feel it was as big as everyone says. Tvdu generally gives character development to its character only to take it away in the next season. I feel the biggest example of this could be Damon and Klaus, with Damon it was because they never decided if they wanted him to be good or a villain and I don't have a reason as to why they decided to do that with Klaus.

The main reason of why I feel Caroline wasn't that great of a character it's because of how her presence didn't significantly alter the plot and she was just there most of the time, I don't think the seasons would have changed that much if she wasn't present and in my opinion, Candice has never been really good at acting so I really don't feel anything whenever she cries, or in any other of her emotional scenes. Phoebe Tonkin, in my opinion, is more or less the same, and this isn't me shitting in their acting skills, it's just my opinion and before anyone (yk who) decides to come for my throat, I'm not "bashing" them for being women. I think Nina Dobrev, Leah Pipes and Kat Graham, as well as Danielle Rose Russell, are one of the best actress the tvd universe has.

The fact that Caroline was a mix of toxic female harmful stereotypes just makes her look bad as a character and of course this wasn't Candice's fault, but Caroline, as well as Rebekah, was everything a female character shouldn't be if you went for the route of feminist woman and that is what Julie Pl*c wanted them to be. Both of them had traits that weren't at all feminist and they didn't deserve to be used as punching bags for toxic abusive men. Having Caroline and Rebekah grow out of these behaviors and traits would have made them good characters and more interesting to analyze, because what do we know of these characters outside the unhealthy/toxic mentality they have?

They made Caroline a mother when she never experienced any desire to be one, they used her for her body and she never said a word about this. Rebekah suddenly became obssesed with becoming a mother out of nowhere, but with the way she behaves it's clear it would not be healthy for her to have a baby. Both of them antagonized women at one point for jealousy/insecurities and they never apologized. Honestly, there are more reasons but I feel I explained the more important ones. I feel Caroline and Rebekah are really similar but at the same time drastically different, not the same character in a different font, because their personalities aren't that similar but both of them deserved better storyline that weren't tied to men.

CT:OS: Origin Story

Well! It's partially from experience, playing for a varsity sports team.

But most of all I wanted to write something fun and cosy and let the characters take centre stage. Found family and falling in love with your teammates/best friend from back home were things I really wanted to explore, and G's based on an experience I had as well.

Here's a longer interview I did with @interact-if for their awesome Asian/Pacific Islander month, I don't fully remember what I said in that but I think it should still stand haha 😅

I can only answer the writing bit by saying I was one of those kids who carried a book everywhere and spent all my time in school or on rainy days or at family gatherings (or whenever I was corralled indoors, really) reading a book under my desk. Then I graduated to listening to audiobooks as an adult, on all my commutes and sometimes while working (some things never change).

I went through seminal periods of my life obsessed with certain authors and sometimes I think of those years not just by what I experienced but also the books I crossed paths with (e.g. the only reason why I wanted to study in the US at 17, 18 was because I had just come off my back-to-back obsessions with Steinbeck/Hemingway/Fitzgerald and Arthur Miller/Tennessee Williams and was convinced I could find freedom and solitude and the space I could never find in Singapore...)

Anyway, I've also been writing since I was a kid--typical kid stuff (comics and game books for friends--choose your own adventure stuff, RPG stuff) and then as a teen I wrote a couple of fanfics (still have em up on archiveofourown but they're all unfinished (bad track record oh dear).

But yeah, tldr; I rarely knew what I was doing when I was doing them--it always seemed to me like I was dabbling in a million different things. But on hindsight I guess they've really been connected dots in a constellation (in some sense), and I'm very glad to have found Interactive Fiction! I think it's an amazing medium/field and so many cool stories are being told here! :)

Oh God I always struggle choosing for these kinda things For favorite is easy, I'm obviously going for Yashiki, he ticks off everything in my checklist for my type in fictional men [Goatee, medium hair, glasses, middle aged, looks like they hadnt showered in a while] And also hes just a fun character in general, traumatized, depressed, and stressed, but also a very silly middle aged man. Everything about him is so interesting from his backstory, to how his amnesia is handled is cool af Im so obssesed with him

LEAST FAVORITE THO?? Thats a tough one, aside from the bad guys, I cant really pinpoint which character I dont like most.... but if I had to say then probably Konoe? Idk I dont hate him or even dislike him a lil, hes just incomparable to the rest of the cast soooo

OPINION OF ELTINGVILLE CLUB: THE BEST THING I EVER SAW.

Lastly, a lot of people in Latin America is talking about a serie of comics called "Eltingville Club" created by Evan Dorkin.

All the idea was planned to be a critic of that nerds or geeks who has a very obssesive love for sci-fi things or pop culture BUT they think they know everything, make feel other people they are wrong or do literally anything to have something what they want.

In actual times, Eltingville Club is know for be a sort of prediction of the toxic fans you find on a fiction fandom. But what is about Eltingville?

The story is about four guys members of a club called Eltingville Club, each members is expert on one thing that a stereotype nerd likes: Comics, Sci-fi, Horror and Fantasy, but seeing them together is not a good signal because they give problems to anyone, but also they give problems each other and almost all the time have fights for a lot of things.

CHARACTERS (FROM THE MOST TOXIC TO THE LESS)

Bill: The MOTHERFUCKER of the club. He is the leader and the secretary of the comics, he is also more than a punchable nerd, he is manipulative, stubborn, egoist, cruel, unpleasant, delusional, a liar and acts like a man-child. Is the kind of toxic fan you don't want to be near. His obssesion for the geek culture is so big that he sees the reality in a twisted form.

Josh: He the most stereotyped of the group, is almost like Bill, who is the one who has more fights with, but surprisely he is a kind a afraid of him sometimes. He is the secretary of sci-fi (But only cares about the classic sci-fi) and is an obssesive fan of Star Wars.

Pete: Is the typical pervert edgy who you can find on internet, he is the secretary of horror, and the reason voice of the group, despite he doesn't make almost the same things than Bill and Josh do, he is close.

Jerry: Finally we have the secretary of fantasy games, he is most responsable of the group, the only one who can separate his obssesions with the reality and one who I think is THE REAL PROTAGONIST. He is clumsy and sometimes doesn't know what is doing, but as the story progresses, he starts to see that everything he did with the other guys is wrong. He use the catchphrase of BEEDEE BEEDEE BEEDEE from a character called Twinkie.

PILOT AND COMICS (SPOILERS)

On 2002, Adult Swim presented a pilot of a series based on the comics, specifically the first and second comic. Surprisely the pilot was loved by the critics and the public, however the serie never was made by different reasons like the animation budget or the fact the pilot was on air in high hours of the night.

And what I think about the pilot?

I think is the BEST pilot I ever saw, maybe it has a lot of differences and exclusive scenes that weren't in the comics but it told us everything great. It's really sad that the serie never comes out, but I hope that serie can become real in the future.

How about the comics? The story has an end?

YES! As I said before the series never came real BUT fortunaly, in the comics we have an end where all start in the lasts comics, there Jerry starts to see that all what Bill was doing wasn't fun and really make him get in trouble, but the real caos being when in the comic "THIS FAN... THIS MONSTER" Bill became mad and burns the comics store where the guys get they geek stuff, thanks to that action Eltingville Club get separate and don't see again after 10 years in a Comic-Con in the FINAL COMIC. In that place Jerry was having the hope to rebuilt their friendship with a new attitude and thinking that the others finally change their begin but... No. At the end Jerry finds out that they will never change and leave them finally, ending his "friendship" with the others.

And that's why I think Jerry is the real protagonist of "Eltingville Club" and the Comic-Con comic gives a perfect end for the story.

CONCLUSIONS

- Both the comics and the pilot are highly recommended

- Seeing the comics in Jerry's perspective really make you feel that he is the protagonist

- NEVER BE A BILL, A JOSH OR A PETE!

- Never burn a comic store

"lockpick" was already a sex joke that LO used on her video "frozen in a minute" about kid Anna and kid Elsa. that's the connection there. that connection is the strongest in the second one because there's one thing that imoen could be gay and do crimes with that aryana would not like and it starts with i.

It was lucid. I was in a surfing competition and everyone got sent back to the shore by this massive wave, and I went underwater for a moment. When I got out of the water I see this tall man like running clumsily towards me and he trips, trying to see if I'm okay, and we both fall. I look up to see a realistic Elliott (my stardew valley husband LMAO) with the most fucking gorgeous hair like ever, radiant in the sunlight, like I can't even put into words how good his hair looked all wet and drippy, and he had the WARMEST expression; he hugs me (at this point I also see a friend being hugged by Harvey too so it's just a big fictional hug party at this point).

And for some reason I say "You do know you're in a game, right?"

And he says:

"We both know that. We both do..." and tightens his hug.

Like bro, I'm not obssesed with any character or even crazy about any. And I play otome (obviously, by my profile) and games like that for fun more than anything else.

But this dream, damn. Fucking Elliott from sdv giving me a hug? I didn't want the dream to end. I had my arms fucking wrapped around myself when I woke up too. Wtaf?! I felt it in the dream.

I sound so sad LMAOOO. Anyway, I'm sure theres other people out there that will agree that this was a good and relatable dream. It was like a lucid dream of a fanfic.

By the end of July 2023 I posted my first Kyoshi novels fanart and maybe one month earlier I started rebloging and commenting on posts from others, this was after I read the novels and I jumped into their fandom and then in the procces I've also got into tlok and atla (I enjoyed them way earlier but I just didn't participate in their fandoms)

HMMMmmm Grumpy serious stoick ish x chaotic more fun (and other antonyms that matches first character idk) (whatever heituat has going on))), expressive women with strong personalities, girlfailures<3, severe stern ruthless etcetc women but caring deep down inside (optional), morally gray characters, and I'm just a little obssesed with mother daughter relationships in fiction if that counts as a trope

That might be well known idk, but sometimes for a video game character they'll hire one person as only just face model, and then differnt person as voice and acting/motion capture

Now I don't really play video games myself but since I've watched Until Dawn gameplay yeaaaars ago I still like to watch playthroughts of those choice based horror games (the quarry, devil in me, resident evil etc), and later I watch other playthroughts for different choices outcomes scenes etcetccc, The games can be kinda stupid but fun, alsooo playthroughts of adventure games(???), I usually watch them when I eat something

Also CHECK OUT "STRAY"!! I only watched playthrought too but it looks so cool, you basically play as a cat (they did good job with motion capture, feels like real cat moves and it looks so fun to play) and you're in a world when humans no longer exist and there are cool looking robots, you can stratch walls and make robots pet you but I promise it's not just that lolol it has an actual plot and wordbuilding

Aside video games I like chess but I suck big time, but for my defence I mostly played with my friend who sucks even more aHA, we downlanded one chess app for two players and played during some classes

I think I'm just interested in 3d models and graphics hehhh I like 3d modeling
